Thailand’s domination in ASEAN Para Games 2017 football CP seven-a-side (Cerebal Palsy) came to an end following a 3-0 defeat against Indonesia in the final at the National Sports Council ground in Bukit Jalil on Friday (Sept 22).

The Indonesians led 2-0 before the interval with goals from Muhaimi Yahya (18th minute) and Cahyana (46th) before Muhaimi returned to score the winner in injury time.

The defeat came as a blow the Thais who were expecting a gold medal following their superb performance in the preliminary round.

Host Malaysia took bronze with a 4-0 victory over Singapore with two goals from Sobri Ghazali whilst Khairi Ismail and Farisan Jasnal scored apiece.

Indonesian Coach Fadilah Umar said it feels strange to be going home with the gold medal as they came as underdogs.

“The players are excited with this win which was unexpected. We will be better prepared for the Asian Para Games as I am sure expectations will be high after our victory here, ”  said Fadilah.
