PETALING JAYA- MBPJ launched accessible park on National Landscape Day 2017.

MBPJ celebrated the National Landscape Day 2017 with the launch of the accessible facilities for persons with disabilities at Taman Aman today.

Dato’ Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, MBPJ Mayor said MBPJ is committed to ensure all its open spaces are barrier free for all including persons with disabilities as he officiated the the celebration of the National Landscape Day 2017  at Petaling Jaya level.

He lauded the establishment of the Friends of Taman Aman, a volunteer group comprising residents and students and pledged to work together with them to ensure the park facilities are maintained properly.

The Mayor accompanied by Zuraidah Binti Sainan, Director of MBPJ Landscape Department also planted fruit trees as part of the celebration.

Zuraidah said, “We want to reintroduce our local fruits back into the community and have planted 40 rare species of fruit trees in this park. We hope  the visitors will benefit from these fruit trees later.”

She added that the eight parks in Petaling Jaya will also be upgraded according to  universal design principles.
MBPJ has designated March as Landscape Month and various activities will also be held at the parks throughout the month.
