MALAYSIA men’s goalball squad continued their winning streak with a 13-3 victory over Laos in 14 minutes at the ASEAN Para Games to advance to the final against defending champions Thailand today (Saturday Sept 23).

The Thais have been masters of the game in the last five editions since 2005 and Malaysian coach Abdul Karim Raham is counting on his players to end the drought with a gold medal.

Malaysia reached the semi-finals after collecting 18 points by winning all six round robin matches while Thailand finished second by beating Indonesia 15-5 to reach the final.

Meanwhile, the national women’s team, who are making a debut in the ASEAN Para Games, lost 8-0 against Laos in the semi-final.

Laos will head to head against defending champion Thailand in the final today.

“This is our first experience competing in the Games and we have learned a lot by watching the other teams. We will work towards improving our play and be ready for the next Para Games,” said Malaysian coach Nagoor Meera Abdullah.
