Kuala Lumpur 6 April, 2018:  Servier (Malaysia)  launched new probiotic drug with a media preview  ahead of the World Digestive Health Day on 29th May 2018. The event served as a timely reminder to Malaysians on the importance of maintaining digestive health with the use of effective probiotics. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 1.8 million people die every year due to diarrhea-related diseases, out of which 90% are children who are less than five years of age.

 

The event kicked  off with a speech by Dr. Alan Wong, the Product Manager of  Servier (Malaysia). Associate Professor Dr. Raja Affendi Raja Ali, Consultant Physician  & gastroenterologist, Head of Gastroenterology & Hepatology unit of University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre and  Professor Dr. Quak Seng Hong, the head and senior consultant of gastroenterology and hepatology from National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore made presentations to create  awareness on the prevalence of diarrheoa in Malaysia and the management with probiotics.

 

In the past years, Malaysians have been relying on bacteria-based probiotics. Most countries in the world have used and relied on a unique yeast strain, Saccharomyces boulardi CNCM I-745 as an effective treatment and prevention of acute diarrhea and now finally, it will be made available here in Malaysia.
