The Indonesians won 13 out of 24 gold medals contested in the ASEAN Para Games which concluded at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre on Friday (Sept 22).
They dominated the Day 1 competition on Wednesday (Sept 20) by claiming seven gold medals in the standard chess category and added another six on Friday.
Firdaus Maksum (rapid individual P1), Ariesta Debi-Karhati Tati, Nasip Farta Simanja-Ade R. Nasution, Edy Suryanto and the B1 rapid team of Eddy and Wirawan Hendi won gold medals on Friday.
The Malaysian team also won the second gold in the Games through Nur Feiqha in the women’s individual rapid B2/B3 event. The 25-year-old Nur Feiqha also bagged the individual standard B2/B3 gold on Wednesday.
“We have won more gold medals than what was targeted. To win 13 gold is a great achievement by our team compared to the nine won in Singapore in 2015,” said Indonesia FIRDAUS MAKSUM.
