Today the world celebrates World Rare Disease Day 2018

World Rare Disease Day is held on the last day of February every year to raise awareness of rare diseases.

A rare disease, also referred to as an orphan disease, is any disorder that affects a small percentage of the population. Although the disease may be rare, patients and families share a common struggle.

The theme for World Rare Disease Day 2018 is Research.

Research is key in discovering more ways to manage rare diseases.  It brings hope to the millions of people living with a rare disease across the world and their families.

In Malaysia, the Malaysian Rare Disorders Society support group celebrates the day with a video #thisisUS
