FOUR Thousand volunteers will be involved in full force during the 9th ASEAN Para Games which begins on Sunday (Sept 17).

ASEAN Para Games Volunteers Organising Committee chairman, R Effendi Razali, said the number of volunteers is seemingly adequate to meet the high demand of the Games including the opening and closing ceremony.

“Just as the 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017 that concluded on Aug 30, the Para Games volunteers attended training based on the needs of athletes. There were two stages of training – the first is on general aspect and the second based on specifications,” said Effendi.

He added that unlike the 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017, volunteers involved in the 9th ASEAN Para Games will not only play a key role in the running of the seven-day event but also be instrumental in making it an amazing experience for all.

“We are confident that 4,000 volunteers is a sufficient figure for the ASEAN Para Games,” Effendi added.

The first batch of athletes from 11 participating nations will arrive on Wednesday (Sept 13).
